In the late hours of a Friday night in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, a dispute described by authorities as a 'minor altercation' escalated into a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 23-year-old Emillio TraVon Herndon. On August 10, 2024, at approximately 11:50 p.m., officers from the Tuscaloosa Police Department were dispatched to the Creekwood Village Apartments following reports of gunfire.
Upon their arrival, they discovered that Herndon had been fatally shot, and a second individual had sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The shooter had fled the scene before law enforcement arrived, prompting an investigation by the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit. Through witness interviews and the collection of evidence, investigators identified Darrion Devonta Boyd, also known as 'Buck,' as the primary suspect in the shooting. Warrants were subsequently issued for Boyd's arrest on charges of murder and attempted murder.
Following a week-long search, Darrion Devonta Boyd was located and apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Task Force. He was taken into custody and booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail, where he is being held without bond pending a judicial hearing.
