In the quiet Odena community of Sylacauga, Alabama, the summer of 2024 was shattered by a violent act that claimed the life of a beloved community figure. On the evening of August 15, 2024, Michael Lionel Wells, a 45-year-old Black male known affectionately as 'Big Mike,' was found unresponsive on Pleasant Hill Lane. Emergency responders were called to the scene, but it was too late. Wells had sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
