On September 17, 2022, 23-year-old DeAnthony Latrell "Zip" Elston was found deceased in Sylacauga, Alabama. Responding to reports of gunfire around 12:30 p.m., Sylacauga Police officers discovered Elston unresponsive in a gray Dodge Challenger on Wood Street, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head. The Talladega County Coroner's Office pronounced him dead at the scene, and his body was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science in Montgomery for an autopsy.
