On July 1, 2022, 22-year-old Nartavius Cortez Fluker-Smith was fatally shot while sitting in his car near his residence on South Main Avenue in Sylacauga, Alabama. Witnesses reported that two individuals approached his 2011 Ford Fusion and opened fire, striking him multiple times. Following the shooting, Fluker-Smith was transported by private vehicle to Coosa Valley Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries approximately an hour later.
