On the night of September 24, 2021, at approximately 11:50 p.m., the Sylacauga Police Department responded to reports of an argument and gunfire at The Landings apartment complex on James Payton Boulevard in Sylacauga, Alabama. Upon arrival, officers discovered 25-year-old resident Gavin Jerome Havis in the parking lot, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
