On June 27, 2021, in Sylacauga, Alabama, 34-year-old Kevin Deshawn Chatman was found lying in the roadway near Goodwater Highway (County Road 511) and Peavy Hill, suffering from a wound to his stomach. Emergency responders transported him to Coosa Valley Medical Center, where he underwent surgery. Despite medical efforts, Chatman was pronounced dead at approximately 8:00 p.m.
