On a Sunday afternoon in Sylacauga, Alabama, tragedy struck the community. Kevin Deshawn Chatman, a 34-year-old Black/African American man, was found lying in the roadway near Goodwater Highway and Peavy Hill on June 27, 2021. He was suffering from what appeared to be a stab wound to his stomach. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene at approximately 1:00 p.m.
