In the late hours of a Monday night in Sylacauga, Alabama, the life of 25-year-old Fredrick Norris was tragically cut short. Just before midnight on September 25, 2023, officers from the Sylacauga Police Department were dispatched to a residence on North Main Avenue following a report of a stabbing. Upon their arrival, they discovered Fredrick Norris, a male originally from Alexander City, gravely wounded and lying on the front porch.
Emergency first aid was administered by the officers
at the scene until paramedics could rush him to Coosa Valley Medical Center. Despite the efforts to save him, Norris's injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital. The cause of his death was determined to be a result of the stabbing.
In the immediate aftermath, the investigation into Norris's death began. Authorities identified a 72-year-old individual who resided at the home where the incident occurred as a suspect. This person, along with other residents present at the time of the stabbing, was reported to be cooperating with the police investigation.
As the inquiry progressed, the case was handed over to the District Attorney's office to be presented before a Talladega County grand jury.
