On March 6, 2024, 40-year-old Jeremy DeWayne Wilson, an off-duty officer with the Ohatchee Police Department, was fatally shot during a domestic altercation at a residence on Commerce Drive in Sylacauga, Alabama. Responding officers from the Sylacauga Police Department found Wilson with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He received immediate medical attention from the Sylacauga Ambulance Service and was transported to Coosa Valley Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
