Sandy Gaddis Barnwell was a 22-year-old African American woman who came to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for Memorial Day weekend and ended up caught in a burst of gunfire at the Bermuda Sands Motel along Ocean Boulevard near the beach’s boardwalk.
