On October 3, 2023, at approximately 10:30 a.m., the Sylacauga Police Department responded to reports of a man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound near the intersection of Sherwood Drive and Fluker Street within the Drew Court Housing Community. Upon arrival, officers discovered 29-year-old Sylacauga resident Miles Dontae McGhee unresponsive in the front yard of 193 Fluker Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
