On the evening of August 30, 2024, at approximately 10:35 p.m., Birmingham police officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 4400 block of 41st Place North. Upon arrival, they discovered 41-year-old Alfredo Rodriguez Ruiz lying on the front porch of a residence, suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics from Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services transported him to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite medical efforts, Ruiz succumbed to his injuries on September 5, 2024.
