Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Johnny Long said Jermaine Johnson, 33, of Birmingham, was fatally shot on South Park Road near Fulton Avenue in the Central Park area at 7:50 p.m. He was taken to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:26 p.m.

The death is the city's 70th homicide this year. Further details were not immediately available from Birmingham police.
