Johnny Markie Lewis, a 34-year-old Black male, was found dead early on the morning of August 28, 2024, in the 2900 block of Avenue F in Birmingham’s Ensley area. Police were sent there just after 6:30 a.m. on a report of a person down, and when officers arrived they found him lying unresponsive. Birmingham Fire and Rescue pronounced him dead at the scene. At first, police had not publicly identified him, but by the next day he was named as Lewis. One report described him as being of Fairfield, ...
