On May 7, 2024, 33-year-old Carlos Leton Searight was fatally shot in Birmingham, Alabama. At approximately 3:20 p.m., officers from the East Precinct responded to a report of a person shot at a residence in the 6800 block of 1st Avenue South. Upon arrival, they found Searight lying unresponsive in the front yard. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
