On a tragic December evening in Birmingham, Alabama, the life of 25-year-old Keithan Jamon Parker, a Black male, was cut short by a hail of gunfire. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, also claimed the life of 19-year-old Kayla Hall and left another woman with life-threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the shooting was a targeted attack.
It took place in the 1700 block of 32nd Place North, an area commonly referred to as 'The Norwood Bottoms.' Following the shooting, the surviving female victim managed to drive the three of them to a Chevron gas station located at 3019 12th Avenue North to seek help. The white Ford Focus they were in was riddled with bullet holes.
Birmingham Police North Precinct officers were dispatched to the 3200 block of 17th Avenue North at approximately 8:35 p.m. after receiving reports of shots fired. They were then updated that there was a female gunshot victim at the nearby Chevron. Upon their arrival at the gas station, officers found the wounded female. Inside the vehicle, they discovered Parker and Hall, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced both Parker and Hall deceased. The surviving victim was transported to UAB Hospital.
As of now, no suspects have been taken into custody in connection with this double homicide. The Birmingham Police Department's Homicide Unit is actively investigating the case and encourages anyone with information to come forward. Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama is also involved, offering a reward for information that leads to an arrest. The reward for information was increased to $10,000 to encourage potential witnesses to step forward and help bring justice to the families of Keithan Parker and Kayla Hall.
