On October 12, 2023, at approximately 6:45 p.m., 51-year-old Reginald Dewayne Tolbert was fatally shot in an abandoned building located in the 300 block of 2nd Avenue North in Birmingham, Alabama. Responding to reports of a person shot, North Precinct officers discovered Tolbert unresponsive, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
