On October 21, 2023, at approximately 1:10 a.m., 37-year-old DeAndres Terrell Dixon of Fairfield, Alabama, was walking along the 1400 block of 3rd Avenue West in Birmingham when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver fled the scene, leaving Dixon critically injured. Emergency responders transported him to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:34 a.m.
