The infant was brought to Children's of Alabama on Thursday, March 9, 2023, by a private vehicle. Hospital staff found her unresponsive, and despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead.
The circumstances of Autumn's arrival at the hospital prompted employees to contact the Birmingham Police Department.
Investigators learned that the baby had been at her home before being transported to the hospital. An initial examination and subsequent autopsy by the Jefferson County Medical Examiner's Office revealed a grim reality.
