In the quiet community of Forestdale, Alabama, a tragic event unfolded that cut short the life of a young man. Louis Craig IV, a 19-year-old male, was fatally shot on December 11, 2023. The incident, which also resulted in the death of 13-year-old Jonathan Cottingham, took place at an apartment in the area. A third individual who was present at the scene managed to escape without any injuries.
The nature of the shooting led authorities to believe it was a targeted attack.
The investigation into the double homicide continued for several months. Law enforcement officials, including deputies from Jefferson County and U.S. Marshals, followed leads that eventually pointed them to a suspect. This information led them to Moundville, where they located and apprehended Leon Walker, Jr.
Following his arrest, Walker was charged with capital murder in connection with the deaths of Louis Craig IV and Jonathan Cottingham. He was subsequently booked into the Jefferson County Jail in Birmingham and is being held without bond.
