On July 29, 2020, Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call in the 100 block of Dalewood Manor Lane in Forestdale, Alabama, regarding an unresponsive 2-month-old infant, Amari Ruffin. The child's father, Jamarius Ruffin, reported that Amari had been sleeping with him when he noticed the baby was not breathing. Amari was transported to Children's Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
