On September 24, 2023, the Anniston Police Department responded to a call around 6:45 p.m. regarding a male gunshot victim in the 300 block of Elm Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered 36-year-old Donald Wayne Gooden Jr. inside a residence, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was promptly transported to Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
