On June 9, 2023, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Anniston Police Department officers responded to a report of an unconscious male in the 300 block of South Leighton Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered 45-year-old Eric D. Thompson, a resident of Talladega, Alabama, deceased inside a business establishment. Investigations revealed that Thompson had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
