On a summer evening in Anniston, Alabama, tragedy struck when 45-year-old Eric D. Thompson, a Black male, was found dead. The date was June 9, 2023, when officers from the Anniston Police Department were called to a business located in the 300 block of South Leighton Avenue around 10:00 p.m. following a report of an unconscious man.
