In the early morning hours of December 18, 2022, a domestic argument in Anniston, Alabama, tragically escalated, leaving 24-year-old Jacoby D. White, a Black male, dead from a gunshot wound. The incident unfolded around 3:45 a.m. in the 4500 block of Sprague Avenue, where Anniston Police Department officers responded to a report of a possible shooting victim.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered White suffering from a serious gunshot injury.
Medics from the Anniston Fire Department rendered immediate aid and attempted life-saving measures. Despite their efforts, White succumbed to his injuries while en route to the hospital.
Present at the scene was White's 19-year-old girlfriend, Jada Nicole Cook. Investigators quickly identified her as the suspect, determining that the couple had been involved in a heated argument just before the shooting occurred. It is alleged that during this altercation, Cook produced a firearm and shot White.
Jada Nicole Cook was arrested at the scene and subsequently charged with domestic violence murder. She was transported to the Calhoun County Jail and held on a $250,000 bond. At the time of the initial reports, the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Jacoby White's death was still ongoing.
