On June 5, 2022, at approximately 1 a.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a report of a person shot at 608 2nd Avenue North. Upon arrival, they discovered a vehicle that had collided with a building. Inside, they found 18-year-old Rayshod Goldthwaite, unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
