In the autumn of 2021, a domestic dispute in Birmingham, Alabama, escalated to a fatal conclusion, claiming the life of 60-year-old Charles Sylvester Stewart. On the evening of Wednesday, October 27, 2021, Birmingham Police were dispatched to a residence where they discovered Stewart suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the immediate response from Birmingham Fire and Rescue, his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial investigation by law
enforcement suggested that a physical altercation had preceded the deadly shooting. Present at the scene when officers arrived was the victim's son, 27-year-old Charles Stewart Jr. He was taken into custody and subsequently charged with reckless murder in connection with his father's death. Authorities reported that the younger Stewart was cooperating with the ongoing investigation into the incident. Following his arrest, Charles Stewart Jr. was held at the Jefferson County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
