On April 16, 2020, 50-year-old Gregory Johnson died following an altercation with a private security guard at Marino's Market in Ensley, Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred around 4:00 p.m. when West Precinct officers responded to reports of a disorderly person at the market located at 2415 Avenue E. Upon arrival, they found Johnson unresponsive. He was transported to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
