On December 4, 2021, at approximately 8:22 p.m., 26-year-old Mikael Rashad McCord Sr. was discovered unresponsive with gunshot wounds on the 1000 block of 17th Place Southwest in Birmingham, Alabama. He was transported to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:14 p.m. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office confirmed that McCord sustained fatal injuries during an assault on a public roadway.
