On the evening of May 14, 2022, Justin Andrew Snow, a 38-year-old male, was driving his white 2008 Ford Edge on Interstate 59 South in Birmingham, Alabama, when he was fatally shot. The incident occurred near the Arkadelphia Road exit. West Precinct officers responded to a call of a person shot at approximately 7:45 PM. Upon arrival, they discovered the Ford Edge had collided with a median, and inside, Snow was found slumped over in the driver's seat with an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced him deceased.
The investigation into Justin Snow's death is ongoing, and it is being treated as a homicide. To date, his shooter remains at large. Investigators have indicated they are searching for a red vehicle that may have been involved in the shooting. The motive for the shooting is still unclear, though road rage has not been ruled out as a possibility. Law enforcement officials have requested public assistance for any information regarding the red vehicle or the events leading up to the shooting.
Justin Andrew Snow was a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham and was an avid pilot. His family, including his mother, Carla Matthews, continues to seek answers and justice. In March 2024, nearly two years after his death, his mother made a public plea for anyone with information to come forward. At the time of his death, Snow was a father to a daughter and a son. No arrests have been made in connection with his murder.
