On February 28, 2022, at approximately 1:55 a.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a report of a person shot on Interstate 65 North near the Finley Boulevard exit. Upon arrival, they discovered a silver Chevrolet Trax parked in the emergency lane on the left side of the interstate. Inside the vehicle, officers found 37-year-old Angel Esteban Hernandez, a resident of Owensboro, Kentucky, suffering from a gunshot wound.
