Elbert Lewis, a 38-year-old man from Birmingham, Alabama, succumbed to complications from a gunshot wound on November 29, 2016, more than a year after he was tragically shot and left paralyzed. His death was officially ruled a homicide by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.
