On February 23, 2022, at approximately 5:54 p.m., Birmingham Police Department officers encountered 27-year-old Keleen RaShad Connell in the Tom Brown Village Housing Community. An altercation ensued, leading to a foot pursuit that ended in the 4300 block of Morris Avenue in the Avondale neighborhood. During this interaction, officers discharged their firearms, fatally wounding Connell. A firearm was reportedly recovered at the scene.
