On June 1, 2021, 17-year-old Desmon Antwan McGuire was fatally shot in Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. in the 2000 block of Avenue P in the Ensley community. Responding to a ShotSpotter alert indicating approximately seven rounds fired, West Precinct officers arrived to find community members attempting to render aid to McGuire, who was lying in a grassy area. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
