On January 14, 2022, at approximately 3:26 a.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a report of a shooting at 816 7th Street Southwest. Upon arrival, they were informed that 56-year-old Richard Spence had been transported to Princeton Baptist Medical Center by a private vehicle. Despite medical efforts, Spence was pronounced deceased shortly after 4 a.m.
