In the early morning hours of Friday, January 14, 2022, the life of 56-year-old Richard Lewis Spence Jr. was tragically cut short in Birmingham, Alabama. Officers from the West Precinct were dispatched to the 1100 block of 24th Street North on a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, they found Spence, a Black male, lying unresponsive in the roadway, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
