On July 16, 2007, 28-year-old Abdo Kasim Musa was fatally shot just before 11 p.m. outside Matt's Market at 3320 17th Avenue North in Birmingham, Alabama. Originally from Yemen, Musa had relocated to Birmingham from Michigan and was employed as a clerk at the market. He left behind a wife and four children.
