When police responded to the reports at approximately 10 p.m., they discovered the body of 22-year-old Decorian Taylor in an alley. He had been shot and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Decorian Dontae Taylor, born on August 31, 1995, had attended Wenonah High School and later completed his education at Job Corps.
He worked as a security officer for multiple companies in the Birmingham area and had a passion for the music industry. His death was one of three homicides that occurred in the city within a three-hour span that Friday night, marking a violent start to the weekend.
In the years following the shooting, the case has remained unsolved, and no arrests have been made. The Birmingham Police Department has continued to appeal to the public for any information that might lead to an arrest. Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama has also highlighted the case, offering a cash reward for tips that could help solve the homicide of Decorian Taylor. His family held his funeral service on June 30, 2018, as the investigation into his death continued.
