On August 1, 2020, 21-year-old Keanna Shabree Kelley of Gadsden, Alabama, was fatally shot during a domestic dispute in Birmingham. At approximately 9:11 p.m., the Birmingham Police Department received a call reporting a domestic disturbance at 1131 Kawanda Lane. Upon arrival, officers found Kelley unresponsive at the steps of the residence, suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue.
