On May 16, 2021, 35-year-old Courtney "Coco" Jan Ashley was tragically killed in a double homicide at Brother Bryan Park in Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. when officers responded to reports of two individuals being shot. Upon arrival, they found Ashley lying in the street with a gunshot wound; she was transported to UAB Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
