Cassandra Cherry was a 55-year-old African American woman from Birmingham, Alabama, whose life ended in the dark hours of Saturday, February 4, 2017. Just after 3 a.m., police were called to a residence in the 600 block of Goldwire Place, where she was found shot multiple times. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and what began as a frantic early-morning response quickly hardened into a homicide investigation.
