On February 4, 2017, 55-year-old Cassandra "San" Cherry was found deceased in her Birmingham, Alabama, home, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Responding to a call around 3 a.m., officers discovered her lying on the floor; she was pronounced dead at the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue. Preliminary investigations suggested that the incident was related to domestic violence.
