In the early evening of January 15, 2022, tragedy struck on Pinson Valley Parkway near Meadow Craft Road in the Birmingham area. Ronda Bilbro Early, a 73-year-old woman from Mulga, was driving her vehicle southbound when it was struck from behind by another car, initiating a three-vehicle collision. The force of the impact proved fatal for Early.
Emergency services responded to the scene of the wreck, but tragically, Ronda Bilbro Early could not be saved.
Another individual involved in the crash sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment, while a third person was unharmed. In a distressing turn of events, witnesses reported that the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the collision fled the scene on foot before authorities arrived.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash. At this time, no arrests have been publicly announced in connection with the hit-and-run. Ronda Bilbro Early was a graduate of Frisco City High School's class of 1966 and had served her country as an ATC in the US Marine Corps. Her life was honored with a funeral service at Maytown Baptist Church, followed by her burial at Village Falls Cemetery.
