On July 21, 2020, 22-year-old Devon Darien Johnson was fatally shot at the Chateau Glen Apartments in Fairfield, Alabama. Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a shooting around 8:30 p.m. and discovered Johnson and a 24-year-old woman with gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to UAB Hospital, where Johnson succumbed to his injuries at 9:32 p.m. The female victim sustained injuries that were not life-threatening.
