In the crisp morning air of December 1, 2020, in Fairfield, Alabama, a young man's life was tragically cut short. Twenty-one-year-old Tykeia Marquise Daniels was found with critical injuries following a shooting that occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. in the 5600 block of EJ Oliver Boulevard. Emergency services rushed him to UAB Hospital, but his wounds proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office immediately launched an investigation into the homicide. Detectives began processing the scene for evidence and speaking with witnesses to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting. Their efforts quickly identified a person of interest, and within hours, a suspect was in custody.
The following day, authorities announced the arrest of 22-year-old De'Andre Carrithers of Midfield. He was subsequently charged with capital murder in connection with Daniels' death. At the time of his arrest, Carrithers also had an outstanding warrant for domestic violence. He was taken into custody and held without bond on the capital murder charge.
