On August 3, 2019, 21-year-old Demarcus Jerome Atkinson Jr. was fatally shot in Fairfield, Alabama. Around 10 p.m., Fairfield Police responded to reports of a shooting in the 400 block of Fairfax Drive at the Glen Oaks Apartments. Upon arrival, officers discovered Atkinson inside a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:27 p.m.
