On the evening of April 27, 2021, 24-year-old DeAngelo Dwayne Poole was with friends in the 200 block of Glen Crest Drive in Fairfield, Alabama, near the Homer E. Hayes Soccer Complex. At approximately 7:44 p.m., a vehicle approached, and an individual inside fired multiple shots at the group, striking several people. Poole was hit multiple times and died at the scene. Four others were injured and transported to UAB Hospital; their conditions were not immediately disclosed.
