On July 17, 2024, at approximately 1:30 a.m., 52-year-old Maurice Arrinjuando Turner was fatally shot inside his residence in the 800 block of Jasper Road, located in Birmingham's College Hills neighborhood. The Birmingham Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter alert indicating approximately ten rounds of gunfire in the area.
