On May 9, 2021, at approximately 2:30 p.m., 31-year-old Douglas MacArthur Crenshaw was fatally shot while seated as a passenger in a black 2018 Dodge Charger at the intersection of Valley Road and Gary Avenue in Fairfield, Alabama. As the vehicle was stopped at a red light, an unidentified assailant in a white SUV, possibly a Toyota 4Runner, pulled alongside and opened fire, striking Crenshaw multiple times.
