In the late evening of August 24, 2020, a domestic incident in the Battleground community of Cullman County, Alabama, turned fatal, ending the life of 23-year-old Tazz Michael Wynn. Authorities responded to a call concerning a dispute between two male acquaintances at a residence on County Road 1101. Upon arrival, they found that Wynn had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
An individual at the scene, identified as Christian Alexander Shane Lewter, who was 22 at the time and from Vinemont,
was detained by the Cullman County Sheriff's Office. The case was then turned over to the Cullman County District Attorney's Office to be presented to a grand jury.
In June 2021, a Cullman County Grand Jury handed down an indictment against Lewter for reckless murder. The indictment alleged that Lewter shot Tazz Wynn in the chest three times under circumstances that demonstrated an extreme indifference to human life. Following the indictment, Lewter, who was residing in Moulton at the time of his arrest, was taken into custody. A cash bond of $50,000 was set.
Tazz Wynn, born on November 21, 1996, was remembered as having a kind and caring heart. He was a former football player for West Point High School, wearing number 19, and had a passion for hunting. Funeral services were held on August 29, 2020, at Blair Congregational Methodist Church. He was survived by his parents, Gregory and Shelly Wynn, and his brother, Iszick Wynn, along with a host of other relatives.
