In the late afternoon of September 30, 2023, what began as a report of a traffic accident on Warrior Road in Birmingham, Alabama, quickly turned into a homicide investigation. Arriving at the 2000 block, officers discovered 24-year-old Micah Honor inside a wrecked black sedan. He was suffering from a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel.
Investigators believe that an unknown assailant fired into Micah's vehicle in the 2100 block
of Bessemer Road. After being shot, Micah continued to drive onto Warrior Road, where his car collided with another vehicle before crashing into a construction fence near a set of abandoned apartments. Fortunately, the occupants of the other vehicle were not injured. The Birmingham Police Department has stated their belief that Micah was intentionally targeted.
Micah Honor, a resident of Adamsville, was a United States Marine veteran. He was known for his exuberant personality and his love for people, cooking, cars, and dogs. He graduated from Minor High School before enlisting in the Marines in 2018, serving one term that concluded in Norfolk, Virginia.
Despite the ongoing investigation, no arrests have been made in connection with Micah's death. His mother, Aneta Honor, continues to seek answers and closure, expressing the difficulty of her son being shot and killed while the case remains cold. She fondly remembers him as the 'life of the party' and a 'professional groomsman' who was always there for his friends. The Birmingham Police Department and Micah's family urge anyone with information to come forward to help bring those responsible to justice.
