On February 16, 2020, 16-year-old Jakhi Jabrrea Johnny Young was fatally shot outside The Palace Club, a gentlemen's club located at 610 3rd Avenue West in Birmingham, Alabama. An off-duty Birmingham police officer, working an extra security detail at the club, heard gunfire around 4:00 a.m. and discovered Young lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel transported him to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:41 a.m.
