In the early morning hours of December 28, 2019, tragedy struck in Birmingham, Alabama, when 19-year-old Temarcus Orman McMullen, a Black male, was fatally shot. The incident unfolded around 4 a.m. at 2626 Court R Ensley, where officers from the West Precinct were dispatched following reports of shots fired. Upon their arrival, they discovered McMullen unresponsive with a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to UAB Hospital, but tragically, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The violence of that morning was not limited to McMullen. Another individual sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital by a private vehicle. A third person was also grazed by a bullet and received medical treatment for minor injuries at the scene. The circumstances that led to the shooting were not immediately clear to investigators.
In the wake of the shooting, authorities made a public appeal for information, urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact the Birmingham Police Department's Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers. At the time of the initial reports, no arrests had been made in connection with the shooting. Remembered for his love, guidance, and incredible sense of humor, his warm and caring personality touched many lives. He had a passion for basketball and was known for his gentle yet competitive spirit.
