Patrick Cornelius Carter Jr., 35, a Black/African American man, was shot on the night of September 2, 2025, in the Center Point community of Jefferson County, northeast of Birmingham. Deputies were dispatched to the 2300 block of 2nd Place NE after reports of a person down. They found Carter suffering from a gunshot wound, began lifesaving measures, and handed care to Center Point Fire & Rescue. He was taken to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
